Hi Everyone, that’s right, we are riding again this year in honor of our friend, Bill Pontious, who passed away on 07/30/2014. Bill was a lifelong police officer, great supporter of this event and we look forward to continuing his legacy by raising money and riding this year from West Point Military Academy to the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
The Tour de Force was founded in 2002 as a memorial bicycle ride to honor the victims of 9/11 and has evolved into a four day, 275 mile ride, to raise funds for the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
I believe Thomas Yoxall aptly summarized the TDF event when he wrote:
“There were some that have ridden from the beginning, and there were others celebrating their first tour. These old and new faces encompassed this raucous group and created a carnival-like atmosphere that was nothing short of a celebration of life. In a nutshell, it was the largest family reunion I have ever attended, complete with crazy uncles, kooky aunts, hilarious grandfathers, worrisome grandmothers, brothers and sisters who live to taunt, and mothers and fathers who live to love. The event involves 300 law enforcement officers from across the USA and abroad, along with some family and friends, all of whom make this a memorable event, which brings people back year after year, to support a great cause.”
Thank you for your support and making a donation that will enrich the lives of those left behind.
